Coreg (Carvedilol)

Coreg is a medicine known as a beta-blocker, which is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Coreg is also used after a heart attack that worsens how well the heart pumps (left ventricular dysfunction).

Do not stop taking Coreg without talking to your doctor. Stopping this medication suddenly can cause harmful effects. Your doctor should gradually reduce your dose when stopping treatment with this medication. Coreg can worsen heart failure, cause breathing problems, or hide symptoms of low blood sugar levels if you have diabetes. Tell your doctor if you experience weight gain or trouble breathing while you are taking Coreg. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar frequently, especially when you first start taking Coreg. Coreg can cause low blood pressure, which can lead to dizziness and fainting when you stand up. If this happens, sit or lie down and call your doctor right away.
