Depakote 250 mg
Depakote (Divalproex Sodium)

Depakote is a medicine used to treat manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder, as well as certain types of seizures and migraines.

Depakote can cause serious liver damage (usually during the first 6 months of treatment) and pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). Tell your doctor right away if you experience abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, loss of appetite, or yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes. Depakote can cause harm to your unborn baby if you take it during pregnancy. Tell your doctor right away if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Depakote can cause low blood platelet (type of blood cells that form clots to help stop bleeding) counts, which can cause you to bleed more easily. Tell your doctor right away if you have any unusual bleeding or bruising. Depakote can cause elevated ammonia levels and a drop in your body temperature. Contact your doctor right away if you experience abnormal drowsiness, vomiting, or changes in your behavior or mood. If you experience a fever and rash while taking Depakote, contact your doctor right away as this can be a sign of a serious allergic reaction. Depakote can cause central nervous system (CNS) depression, especially with alcohol or other CNS depressants. Do not drive or operate dangerous machinery until you know how Depakote affects you.
