Flovent Diskus (Fluticasone Propionate)

Flovent Diskus is an inhaled corticosteroid medicine used for the long-term treatment of asthma. It also helps to prevent symptoms of asthma.

Flovent Diskus does not treat the symptoms of a sudden asthma attack. Always have a short-acting rescue inhaler (such as albuterol) to treat sudden symptoms. If you do not have a short-acting inhaler, tell your doctor to have one prescribed for you. Tell your doctor immediately if an asthma attack does not respond to the rescue inhaler or if you require more doses than usual. Flovent Diskus can cause infections in your mouth and throat. Tell your doctor if you have any redness or white colored patches in your mouth. Cataracts (clouding of the eye’s lens) or glaucoma (high pressure in the eye) can occur while you are using Flovent Diskus. Tell your doctor if you experience a change in your vision. If you use Flovent Diskus, you can have a higher risk of getting an infection. Do not expose yourself to chickenpox or measles while you are using Flovent Diskus. Tell your doctor if you experience any signs or symptoms of infection (such as a fever, pain, aches, chills, feeling tired, nausea, or vomiting). Flovent Diskus can cause slowed or delayed growth in children. Check your child’s growth regularly during treatment with Flovent Diskus. Flovent Diskus can cause a serious allergic reaction. Stop using Flovent Diskus and call your doctor right away if you experience breathing problems, hives, rash, or swelling of your face, throat, or tongue. Do not stop using Flovent Diskus, even if your symptoms get better. Your doctor will change your medicine as needed. You may not feel or taste the medication from your Flovent Diskus when you inhale it. This does not mean that you did not get the medication. Do not repeat your inhalations even if you did not feel the medication when inhaling.
