Lasix 40 mg
Lasix 80 mg
Lasix (Furosemide)

Lasix is a diuretic (water pill) used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Lasix is also used to treat edema (swelling) associated with heart, liver, or kidney disease.

Lasix can cause ringing in your ears, other hearing problems, or deafness. Your risk is higher if you have severe kidney disease, hyperproteinemia (high blood protein levels), take a higher dose than prescribed by your doctor, or if you take Lasix with certain medications. Tell your doctor if you experience any changes in your hearing while you are taking Lasix. Your doctor will perform regular blood tests to check your fluids and electrolytes (chemicals that are important for the cells in your body to function, such as sodium and potassium). Tell your doctor if you experience dry mouth, thirst, weakness, fatigue, drowsiness, restlessness, muscle pains or cramps, low blood pressure, decreased urination, fast or irregular heartbeat, nausea, or vomiting. If you experience a sudden drop in your blood pressure, get up slowly. Lasix can cause an increase in your blood sugar levels or diabetes. If you have diabetes or are at risk for diabetes, monitor your blood sugar regularly, as determined by your doctor. Lasix can cause gout (severe and painful inflammation of the joints).
