Macrodantin 50 mg
Macrodantin (Nitrofurantoin Macrocrystals)

Macrodantin is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial infections of the urinary tract.

Macrodantin can cause serious side effects, including lung problems, liver or blood disorders, and damage to your nerves. Your doctor will monitor you for these conditions. Macrodantin can cause diarrhea or colitis (inflammation of the colon). This can occur a couple of months after receiving the last dose of Macrodantin. Tell your doctor right away if you have diarrhea or colitis. Take Macrodantin as prescribed by your doctor for the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve earlier. Do not skip doses. Skipping doses or not completing the full course of Macrodantin can decrease its effectiveness and can lead to growth of bacteria that are resistant to the effects of Macrodantin. Macrodantin can cause false-positive reactions when testing for the presence of sugar in the urine using certain testing devices.
