Micardis (Telmisartan)

Micardis is a medicine used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. Micardis is also used to lower the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death from heart problems in people who are 55 years or older with high risk of developing heart problems.

Micardis can cause low blood pressure, especially if you take diuretics (water pills), are on a low-salt diet, or receive dialysis. If you feel faint or dizzy, lie down and call your doctor right away. Micardis can cause a serious allergic reaction. Tell your doctor right away if you experience swelling of your face, throat, or tongue; difficulty breathing; or skin rash. Micardis can worsen your kidney function if you already have kidney problems. Tell your doctor if you develop swelling in your feet, ankles, or hands, or unexplained weight gain.
